Introduction.
At GTG we recognise that children and young people are not just small adults.
Our team of Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapists have the knowledge and clinical skills to enable safe and effective assessment and treatment of babies, children, and young people.
The team is based at Le Rondin school and centre but also work out of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, Le Murier school and in patients’ schools and homes in the community.
We provide Physiotherapy assessment and management for all community and out-patient related physiotherapy referrals for children between 0-18 years of age, or until they have finished full time secondary education.
Our Specialist Physiotherapists are able to support patients with a wide range of presentations including, developmental conditions, musculoskeletal conditions and respiratory conditions, as well as neurological and neuro developmental disorders.
Treatment is adapted to the age and development of the young person, and may include advice, exercise prescription and manual therapy, as well as equipment or mobility aid prescription.
To best support our patients, care and management will involve a collaborative approach, working with the young person and their family, as well as other professionals supporting the young person. This might include Consultants, paediatricians, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language therapists, as well as professionals from education, early years and social care.
