Neurological Physiotherapy

The neurological in-patient service looks after patients who have had an acute neurological event such as a stroke or head injury, and can also include long term conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), inherited or genetic conditions, or conditions requiring an admission to hospital. We also work with patients who return from Southampton following neurosurgery.

The service provides the rehabilitation to re-learn normal movement, balance and gait retraining and provide tools to promote the self-management of their condition. Physiotherapy can also include physiotherapy assistant led programmes which are created by the qualified therapists and may also provide some limited sessions to the patient in their own home following discharge if indicated.

The neurological out-patient service looks after patients with a variety of neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), vestibular issues and follow-up appointments post stroke or head injury.

The service provides goal specific rehabilitation to re-learn normal movement, balance and gait retraining and provide tools to promote the self-management of their condition. Physiotherapy can also include physiotherapy assistant led programmes which are created by the qualified therapists and may also provide input to settings such as the community gym, own home or residential setting.
